How much does compounded tirzepatide cost?
On the program pages we checked, compounded tirzepatide is advertised from $90 to $389 a month, and the conditions behind each number differ. Mochi’s card reads "As low as $90" without a stated supply period, and medication is billed separately from membership[1]. Ivím Health quotes "12 months of compounded Tirzepatide $117 per month" plus a $75 monthly membership[2]. OrderlyMeds advertises a starter price: "Get started for $149/mo — $299 total for 2 months"[5]. Found includes compounded medication in its plans, from $169 a month on a 12-month prepaid cash plan or $289 month to month[3]. Fridays shows "Starting at $198 /mo" with code FOREVER500 and "$389/mo with an annual plan" on the same card[6]. TrimRx says "GLP-1 + GIP Starting at $259"[8]. Henry Meds lists compounded oral tirzepatide tablets at $234 a month on a 12-month prepaid plan[7]; we did not find an injectable tirzepatide plan on Henry’s pages.
Compounded tirzepatide vs Zepbound: is the gap still large?
It has narrowed. Lilly now sells brand-name Zepbound to cash payers for $299 (2.5 mg), $399 (5 mg) and $449 (7.5 to 15 mg with on-time refills) per 28 days[4], down from $399 and $549 at the August 2024 vial launch[9]. Programs that sell Zepbound add a membership on top, but so do several compounded programs. A 12-month compounded plan at $117 plus a $75 membership is $192 a month at Ivím[2], compared with $299 to $449 for Zepbound medication alone.
Compounded drugs are made by state-licensed pharmacies or outsourcing facilities. They are not FDA-approved, are not generic versions of Wegovy, Ozempic, Zepbound or Mounjaro, and the FDA has not reviewed them for safety, effectiveness or quality.
Is compounded tirzepatide legal now?
The FDA removed tirzepatide injection from its drug shortage list, and the enforcement grace periods for compounders (state-licensed pharmacies under section 503A and outsourcing facilities under 503B, the latter until March 19, 2025) have ended. The FDA says tirzepatide is not currently on the 503B bulks list or the drug shortage list[10]. Patient-specific compounding under 503A remains possible when the statute’s conditions are met. See the legal status guide.
What should I check before paying for compounded tirzepatide?
- The all-in monthly cost: medication plus any membership, shipping and supplies.
- The commitment: is the price only for a 12-month prepaid plan, and is it refundable?
- Promo conditions: does the headline need a code, and what is the price after the first term?
- How much drug: the amount per vial or shipment and how long it’s meant to last.
- The pharmacy: name and state license of the compounding pharmacy that fills it.
- Who prescribes: several programs use third-party clinician networks; TrimRx says it "is not a medical practice"[8].
