How much is Mounjaro without insurance?
Lilly publishes a Mounjaro list price, or wholesale acquisition cost, of $1,112.16 per fill[2]. Unlike Zepbound, Mounjaro is not offered as a LillyDirect self-pay vial on the pages we checked, so there is no manufacturer cash price for the uninsured. A pharmacy’s cash price for someone with no insurance will be set by that pharmacy.
Among telehealth programs we track, Hims and Hers list Mounjaro at $1,899 a month, medication only, plus a separate membership[3]. Mochi lists Mounjaro "as low as $499"[4], which matches Lilly’s savings-card price for commercially insured patients without coverage.
What does Mounjaro cost with insurance?
Lilly’s Mounjaro savings card has two tiers[1]:
- Covered: with commercial insurance that covers Mounjaro, you may pay as little as $25 for a 1-, 2- or 3-month prescription fill. Lilly says you can ask for a 3-month prescription and pay as little as $25 in total for it.
- Not covered: with commercial insurance that does not cover Mounjaro, you may pay as low as $499 for a one-month fill.
Government beneficiaries (Medicare, Medicaid, TRICARE and similar) are excluded from manufacturer savings cards. For them, Part D coverage of Mounjaro for type 2 diabetes is the usual route[5].
Is Mounjaro cheaper than Zepbound?
Only if your plan covers Mounjaro. Both contain tirzepatide. For cash payers, Zepbound is far cheaper: $299 to $449 a month on LillyDirect[6], versus Mounjaro’s $1,112.16 list price[2] or $499 with the not-covered savings card[1]. The two are approved for different uses (Mounjaro for type 2 diabetes, Zepbound for weight management and sleep apnea), and your prescriber decides which applies to you. See Zepbound cost.
What does a year of Mounjaro cost?
With a Lilly month of 28 days, a year is 13 fills. At the $499 not-covered card price that is $6,487; at list price it would be $14,458.08. With covered insurance and 3-month fills at $25 each, roughly five fills a year come to about $125, before any deductible effects. Arithmetic only.

What should I do next?
- Check your coverage first. If a commercial plan covers Mounjaro, a manufacturer savings card can cut the copay to as little as $25. See GLP-1 savings cards.
- On Medicare? Savings cards don’t apply; the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge sets a $50 copay for some weight-loss GLP-1s.
- Paying cash? Compare the self-pay routes in the table above, including membership fees, in the cost builder.
- Ask your prescriber which drug and dose fit you. GLP Observer compares prices only.
