How much is Ozempic without insurance?
Novo Nordisk’s self-pay price for an Ozempic pen is $349 a month for 0.25, 0.5 or 1 mg and $499 a month for 2 mg, where a month is one pen. New patients pay $199 for each of their first two monthly fills of 0.25 or 0.5 mg, through December 31, 2026[1]. You can get these prices through NovoCare Pharmacy or by taking the Ozempic savings offer to a retail pharmacy[3].
The Ozempic pill is self-pay "starting at $149 per month" for the 1.5 mg strength (30 tablets). Novo publishes the other strengths in a downloadable pricing table that we have not yet archived, so we list only the starting price[1].
How has the Ozempic cash price changed?
On November 17, 2025, Novo cut the self-pay price of Ozempic for existing self-pay patients from $499 to $349 a month and kept the 2 mg dose at $499[4]. The same day it launched the $199 two-month intro offer, originally through March 31, 2026[4]; on our October 19, 2026 check it ran through December 31, 2026[1].
How much is Ozempic with insurance?
Commercially insured patients with Ozempic coverage can pay as little as $25 a month, saving up to $100 a month for up to 48 months[2]. Government beneficiaries are excluded from the savings card[1]. Because Ozempic is a diabetes medicine, many plans cover it for type 2 diabetes with prior authorization; coverage for weight loss is a different question, since Ozempic is not approved for it.
What does a year of Ozempic cost?
On published self-pay prices, twelve monthly pens cost $4,188 at $349, or $3,888 if the first two fills are at the $199 intro price. Twelve months of the 2 mg pen at $499 come to $5,988. Twelve months of the 1.5 mg pill at $149 would be $1,788. This is arithmetic, not a treatment plan.
Is Ozempic cheaper than Wegovy?
At standard strengths they cost the same self-pay: $349 a month[1][5]. Ozempic 2 mg is $499, and Wegovy HD 7.2 mg is $399. They are different products approved for different uses: Ozempic for type 2 diabetes, Wegovy for weight management and cardiovascular risk reduction.
Where else is Ozempic sold?
TrumpRx.gov lists Ozempic at $199 a month against an "Original Price" of $1,028[6], which matches the new-patient intro price. Hims and Hers list the Ozempic pen from $199 and the Ozempic pill from $149, medication only[7]; WeightWatchers lists $149 (pill) and $199 (pen)[8]; Mochi lists Ozempic from $199[9]. What should I do next?
- Check your coverage first. If a commercial plan covers Ozempic, a manufacturer savings card can cut the copay to as little as $25. See GLP-1 savings cards.
- On Medicare? Savings cards don’t apply; the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge sets a $50 copay for some weight-loss GLP-1s.
- Paying cash? Compare the self-pay routes in the table above, including membership fees, in the cost builder.
- Ask your prescriber which drug and dose fit you. GLP Observer compares prices only.
